ARKO Continues Solar Energy Expansion, Developing 34 MWp Solar Power Plant & 28.3 MWh BESS Project

August 27, 2026

Jakarta, Kontan — PT Arkora Hydro Tbk (ARKO) is moving swiftly to accelerate its solar energy business expansion. Following the official acquisition of PT Endorshine Energy Solutions on 24 August 2026, ARKO is now expanding its Solar Power Plant (PLTS) portfolio by developing three new solar projects equipped with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This expansion was secured through operational lease agreements with PT Batamindo Investment Cakrawala (BIC), PT Bintan Inti Industrial Estate (BIIE), and PT Bintan Resort Cakrawala (BRC), conducted through PT Endorshine Energi Matahari (EEM), ARKO's subsidiary focused on solar projects. These three solar projects will become ARKO's third, fourth, and fifth PLTS projects, with a total capacity of 34 Megawatt peak (MWp) equipped with a BESS of 28.3 Megawatt hour (MWh).

Arkora Hydro Director Ricky Hartono revealed that the inclusion of BESS in these three projects is the key differentiator compared to ARKO's previous solar portfolio. BESS enables solar energy generated during the day to be stored and distributed as needed, including at night or during cloudy weather, ensuring a stable and reliable electricity supply at all times. Following the first and second solar projects, this operational lease agreement underscores a new chapter for ARKO, which will now build projects from the ground up while integrating energy storage technology (BESS) for the very first time. According to Ricky, the solar projects to be built at BIC, BIIE, and BRC affirm ARKO's commitment to innovating in more advanced NRE technology. "While our first and second solar projects that we recently acquired are ready-to-operate assets, this time we will build from scratch. For the first time, we will integrate BESS into the solar projects. This is also our effort to maximize added value for our shareholders and all our partners," said Ricky in a written statement to Kontan.co.id on Thursday (27/8/2026).

With this new agreement, ARKO now has a total contracted capacity of 118.1 MW, comprising 6 hydropower projects (62.8 MW) and 5 solar projects with a total capacity of 55.3 MWp, including 3 solar projects equipped with BESS of 28.3 MWh. In line with this expansion, ARKO still has a total pipeline capacity of over 300 MW. Ricky stated that this reaffirms further expansion opportunities in the NRE sector and supports the Government's efforts to achieve its energy transition targets and Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2060. "This is part of our commitment to continue growing, both organically and inorganically, while expanding the Company's contribution to clean energy provision, in line with our vision of lighting up Indonesia with renewable energy and supporting the acceleration of the national energy transition," Ricky concluded.

For reference, here are ARKO's five solar project portfolio:

  • PT Batamindo Industrial Park — 11.1 MWp
  • PT Bintan Resort Cakrawala — 10.2 MWp
  • PT Batamindo Investment Cakrawala — 11.5 MWp with BESS capacity of 11.4 MWh
  • PT Bintan Inti Industrial Estate — 12.5 MWp with BESS capacity of 5.6 MWh
  • PT Bintan Resort Cakrawala — 10 MWp with BESS capacity of 11.3 MWh
